Behind Closed Doors

Chapter 15

Sasha felt her knees go weak. She put her hand on the counter to steady herself. Slowly, she turned back around and walked over to the table. She sat down next to Brian. She didn't know what to say or do. After her conversation with Tyler and then seeing Brian break down in Bailey's room, the statement shouldn't have come as a complete shock, yet she felt like someone had punched her in the stomach and knocked the wind out of her. She leaned close to Brian and put her hand on his shoulder. "When did this happen?"

Brian raised his head up and took a deep breath. Saying the words seemed to lift an enormous weight off his shoulders. "No one knows." He said quietly. "Not even my family or the fellas."

"I'm the first person you have said anything to?"

"That was the first time I have said the words out loud."

"I don't know what to say Brian." She whispered. She stood up and moved closer to him. She hugged his head awkwardly to her torso. He turned his head toward her and sobbed softly. She helped him to his feet. With little encouragement, Brian wrapped his arms around her, hugging her tightly, placing his head on her shoulder. She ran her hand up and down his back. She didn't feel a need to speak. She just felt like she needed to stand there and let Brian cry. She had a feeling he had been holding back his tears for a long time. Finally, she felt him relax a little. He released her from the embrace.

"I'm sorry Sasha. You wanted to go home and get some sleep."

Sasha shook her head. "I only said that because I didn't think you wanted to talk. I'll stay here as long as you want me to."

Brian took a step back. He debated telling Sasha what was going on but he knew he needed to talk to someone and she was willing to listen. He closed his eyes. "Let's go into my office." He said quietly.
