Chapter 17
"Leighanne and I hadn't…" He hesitated. "Been 'husband and wife' since a few months before Bailey was born." His eyes met Sasha's. He sucked his lower lip into his mouth. "I shouldn't be telling you this." He said getting up from the couch and walked over to his desk. He leaned forward, putting his hands on the desk.
Sasha stood up as well. "Yes…you should." She said softly. She took his hand and guided him back over to the couch. She sat down close to the center, pulling him down with her.
Brian slumped forward, his head coming to rest in his hands. "No, I shouldn't. I jus' told you I haven't had sex in over 2 years. That is not the kind of thing a 'boss' tells his 'assistant'."
"Brian, I am not here to judge you and nothing you tell me will ever leave this room." She put her hand on his arm. "I've worked for you for what, 6 years now?" She questioned. "I'd like to think we are more than just 'boss' and 'assistant'. I would like to think we are friends as well."
"We are Sawsh. I just feel weird telling you this stuff."
"You don't have to tell me anything you think will embarrass you. Just tell me what I need to know to help you."
Brian sighed. "The whole situation is embarrassing Sasha. That is why I have kept it to myself for so long."
"Why don't you tell me why you and Leighanne decided to separate?"
"It was a long time coming." He took a deep breath, flaring his nostrils. "I can't do this!" He said getting up from the couch again.
"OK. If you don't feel comfortable talking to me then why don't I call Kevin and have him come over or I can call Harold for you and you can talk to him?"
Brian shook his head. He attempted to blink back the tears that were once again stinging his eyes. He turned away from Sasha. He took a deep breath. "No. Don't call Kevin or my brother. You are right. You are the very person I should be telling this to."
"What do you mean Brian?"
"Sasha, part of the reason Leighanne and I separated is because she thinks you and I are having an affair." He turned back around to face her.
