Chapter 47
Brian sighed, puffing out his cheeks as he exhaled. "I think she will probably come home within a month." He sat his water down on the table in front of the couch. He leaned forward and ran his hands through his hair before bringing his head to rest on his hands.
Sasha debated if the time was right to tell him what Tyler had said the night before. She decided she need a little more information before she told him about the incident in Tyler's room. She moved closer to Brian and rubbed his back. "Bri, there is one thing you haven't told me yet. I hope you don't mind my asking. I just need to confirm my suspicions."
"Yes, the separation is permanent." Brian whispered, reading her mind. "We have been working with our lawyers to get the details ironed out before we filed for divorce but yes, we are not going to be reconciling." He turned to face Sasha. "We had a pre-nuptial agreement so they only thing we really needed to negotiate was custody of the kids." He picked up his water and took a long drink. "And I talked to my lawyer yesterday about that." He shook his head. "Leighanne isn't going to fight me for custody. She only wants visitation."
"Really?" Sasha replied, a bit more than surprised.
Brian nodded. "She wants a week at Easter, a week at Christmas and depending on her work schedule, 2- 6 weeks during the summer." He sighed. "We both agreed we don't want to make them switch schools half way through the year. We like the school they are in now."
"So what happens next?"
"My lawyer filed the petition yesterday. Since we agreed on everything ahead of time, the divorce will be final in about 2 months."
Sasha sighed. "Wow. I understand now why you were so upset last night."
Brian nodded. "Yeah. It really hit me yesterday that she is not coming back."
"Things are really moving quickly aren't they?" Sasha said quietly.
"Yeah. She'll probably be here within a month to pick up what is left of her stuff." He took a deep breath and ran his fingers through his hair again. "I guess I had better tell the guys and my family before they hear it from the press."
"That might be a good idea."
Brian bit his lip. "I have been trying to think of a way to tell them all day. I haven't come up with anything yet."
"You don't have to tell them everything you told me Brian. Just tell them…" She shook her head. "You have to give them some sort of an explanation I suppose." She took a drink of her water. "Just tell them the abbreviated truth."
"And what would that be?" Brian asked raising his eyebrows at her.
"Leighanne cheated on you. You tried to reconcile but she didn't put forth the effort needed to repair the damage so you have decided its in both of your best interests, as well as the best interest of the kids, to divorce."
"That makes Leighanne sound like an uncaring person Sasha."
Sasha shrugged. "You aren't the one who cheated Brian."
"That's true." Brian affirmed. "I guess I could start with that explanation and see how it goes. I'll call my parents tomorrow and try it out on them."
"Umm…Brian…I don't want to tell you how to run your life but I think the first person you need to talk to is Tyler."
Brian wiped his hands over his face. "I know. What am I going to tell the kids? How do I explain this to them?"
Sasha leaned over and hugged Brian. "I don't think it is going to come as quite the shock you may be anticipating."
"What do you mean Sawsh?" Brian asked furrowing his brow.
