Behind Closed Doors

Chapter 49

"Oh wait Sasha!" Brian said as she started to open the door. "There is one thing I forgot to tell you about the divorce."

"Oh? What is it?"

"I don't know if you even thought about it but um…'BriLeigh Productions' will be liquidated when the divorce is final."

"OH!" Sasha felt her heart skip a beat. "No. I hadn't thought of that yet."

"I don't want you to worry about your job though. I'm already working on a new company, 'BTL, Enterprises'. We might have to move locations but your job, if you still want it that is, will be the same as it is now. Well, a little more emphasis on music than on movies but basically the same."

Sasha smiled. "Thanks Brian! That is a relief. Of course I will still want to work for you. I love working for you! You just tell me where to show up and I'll be there!"

"Good!" Brian replied. He put his hand on Sasha's arm. "Are you sure you are OK to drive home Sawsh? You aren't too tired? You're welcome to crash in the guestroom." He blushed. "I'll sleep in my room if you want me to so we won't have a repeat of this morning."

"I'm fine Brian. I'm sorry I scared you. And as far as this morning goes, it is no big deal. I'd even forgotten what happened. As far as I am concerned, you just had a little trouble waking up." She grinned. "Not unlike me!" She hoped he bought her story.

Brian chortled. "Thanks Sasha." He looked at her, his expression growing serious. "You know what happened don't you Sasha? You remember your dream and why your hands were clenched so tight you made your palms bleed."

Sasha nodded slowly.

"But you are not going to tell me about it are you?"

Sasha shook her head.

Brian took her hand in his and looked at her palm. The tiny lines of blood were still visible. "You know, friendship goes both ways Sasha. If there is something you need to talk about, I am here to listen to you as well."

"Thanks Brian." Sasha hesitated. "Maybe some day, after everything calms down, I'll take you up on that offer."

"I'm going to hold you to that Sawsh." He pulled her into a hug. He stepped back but didn't release her completely. He looked at her for a moment before leaning his head forward and kissing her. He was fully aware of what he was doing and he hoped she wouldn't get mad at him for doing it. He was both surprised, as well as elated when not only did she not push him away, she kissed him back. They stood there by the doorway, two friends who had shared a tumultuous couple of days, simply kissing. It wasn't an incredibly romantic kiss; it was more of a comforting kiss. Sasha was the first one to break away.

"I had better go so you can get some rest." She said breathlessly. "You are going to need all of your strength to get through tomorrow."

"Thanks again for everything Sasha. I really appreciate your being here these past couple of days."

"That's what friends are for Brian." She said as she stepped out onto the porch.

"Keep that in mind Sawsh." He called out as she headed for her car.

Sasha turned back around. "I will Brian. Thanks." She got into her car and waved to him as she circled out of the driveway.
