Chapter 52
"Hi Brian!" She greeted him with a hug when he opened the door. "You did say 7:00 right? I didn't see any other cars so I thought maybe I got the time wrong. I hope I am not too early!" She said stepping into the foyer.
Brian smiled. He quickly surveyed Sasha's appearance once more. She had on a dark green velvet dress that hit just above her knees. The neckline was rounded out to where it sat perfectly on her collarbones. She wore a simple strand of pearls with matching earrings. Her hair was pulled up in a twist with a few select strands curled and dangling close to her face. She looked positively breathtaking in Brian's eyes. "You are right on time." He said snapping back to reality.
"I'm always the first to arrive." Sasha replied rolling her eyes.
"You're timing is perfect. Close your eyes." Brian commanded taking her hand in his.
"Why would I want to close my eyes?"
"Please. Just do it for me Sasha. I have something I want to show you and I want it to be a surprise."
Sasha reluctantly closed her eyes. "Just don't run me into any walls. OK?"
Brian laughed. "I won't. I promise." He assured her as he led her toward the dining room. He guided her toward the table.
"Something smells really good Brian!"
"Thank you! I've been slaving all day!" He laughed softly. "You can open your eyes now."
Sasha's breath caught in her throat when she opened her eyes to the sight before her. The only light in the room came from the candles set at various locations through out the dining room. The table was elegantly set for an intimate dinner for 2 right down to the champagne chilling in a bucket with strawberries beside it. She turned to Brian. "I thought you invited me to a dinner party to celebrate your divorce being final."
Brian grinned. "I did." He blushed slightly. "I just didn't tell you it was a dinner party for 2."
A wave of panic overcame Sasha. 'There is nothing to be afraid of.' She told herself. 'It is only dinner.' She swallowed hard. 'Yeah right! Who do you think you're fooling with that thought?'
