Behind Closed Doors

Chapter 66

Sasha nearly dropped the receiver at the sound of his voice. "I didn't screw anyone Eric. I never have and I never will thanks to you!" She replied meekly

"You should be thanking me Sasha. Thanking me for saving you from a life of heartache and disappointment."

"Heartache and disappointment?" Sasha echoed. "What you have managed to do to me is far worse than a broken heart could ever be!"

"A harsh statement coming from someone who has never had her heart broken. You know you should be down on your knees thanking me for everything I have done for you Sasha."

"What do you want Eric?"

"Well for starters, I want to know who Brian is." He paused. "Oh Sasha. Please tell me you're not screwing your newly divorced boss."

"I'm not screwing anyone Eric!"

"Yes, I have heard that story before now haven't I?"

"Good night Eric." Sasha said slamming the phone into it's cradle. She picked it back up and turned off the ringer. She ignored the ringing of the phone in the kitchen. She heard the answering machine pick up. She cringed when she heard Eric yelling at her machine. She got up from the couch and walked to the kitchen. She waited until his tirade was over, erased the message, turned the volume down on the answering machine and turned off the ringer on the phone. He could leave all of the messages he wanted tonight and she would not hear him. She tried to take deep breaths and calm herself down, as she made her way to her bedroom. She turned off the ringer on the phone in there as well. She climbed into bed and hugged her blankets tight to her body. "At least I know he is several hours away. He can't hurt me tonight." She gripped her blankets tighter and tighter, resisting the urge to go into her bathroom and cut to relieve the pressure she felt. "If you ever want to be with Brian." She told herself. "You have got to gain control over the rage." She finally fell into a fitful sleep a good hour later.
