Behind Closed Doors

Chapter 88

"You have experienced 3 major break throughs and the year isn't even half over. The flashback is what worries me the most. I'm afraid there are going to be more. You have a 2 or 3-year gap where you still haven't remembered your abuse. You know what triggered the last flashback but you have no idea what will trigger another one or when it will happen. I think you need to be prepared for that to happen. If that is even possible." He paused. "Next, you're beginning to realize its OK to express your emotions instead of cutting and even though that is a very good thing, it is going to cause you more problems before you get a handle on it. You've kept so much inside of you for so long Sasha. It is all beginning to spill out and I know you are scared. It is normal to be scared when you start to let it out. Again, I think you need help learning to control your emotions. I don't think you are prone to violence, so that is not an issue. Just remember, it is OK to cry. I think crying makes you a stronger person. It shows you have emotions and you're not afraid to show them. Crying is healthy." He looked at her, his face softening. "Look how far you've already come this year! You hung up on Eric Sasha! That may seem like nothing but it is a HUGEstep in facing up to him and preventing him from controlling your life." He took his hand and gently brought her face around so she was forced to make eye contact with him. "Lastly, even if it was an accident, you told Brian you're an SI. Another big step in your recovery Sasha."

"What are your conditions?" Sasha asked breaking the eye contact and returning her gaze to the table in front of her.

Trevor folded his hands in front of him. "I will tell Jamie you are doing fine, that the incident was an isolated break down and you don't need to start seeing Dr. Travers again. In exchange for that lie, and you know it is a lie Sasha, you agree to come here and talk to Ben and I every Saturday morning until we decide you are capable of coping without us. You also have to promise me that you will either call us or come here IMMEDIATELY if you experience another flashback or you feel the need to cut."

"Every Saturday morning?" Sasha asked, fearful of the coming weeks when she would have Brian's kids to watch.

"EVERY Saturday morning Sasha." Trevor answered her, emphasizing the word 'every'. He knew what she was thinking. "We'll meet at the park on the weekends you're babysitting. We'll bring Dakota. Ben can play with the kids while you and I talk."

"Is that all?"

"What do you think?"
