History of Just to be Close to You

I started reading Backstreet Fan Fiction sometime in 1998 and frankly what I saw at times, scared me! I realize Fan Fiction is not REAL but if the guys lived like some of the stories I have read, they would either be dead or in prison for life! I have always enjoyed writing so I decided to try my hand at writing about the guys.

The first version of Just to Be Close to You surfaced on tripod.com in early 1999. It was pathetic! I hate to even admit I designed it! I must admit I have come a long way since then!

After a few months, I moved the site to xoom because they had unlimited space at the time. The graphics and layout were still horrendous! Thank you to anyone who discovered my site there and still continued to come back!

Toward the end of 1999, a friend opened fallenstars.com with a couple of other people and offered me space there. That was when Just to Be Close to You really started to take shape! I loved the freedom of posting pages without worrying about them not falling into guidelines set down by the 'free' hosting services. I was able to use banners in exchanges without little red X's appearing. Fallenstars was a great domain, run by 3 really cool people. I stayed there for close to 2 years.

Just to Be Close to You as you see it today originated in March of 2001. I had several side jobs doing websites for other companies and I decided I wanted my own domain. I ran names by friends for a month or 2 before I finally decided on cosmickismet.net. "Cosmic"= universal and "kismet"= fate. I thought it was appropriate! I enlisted the help of a friend who knew more about setting up all of the initial files and cosmickismet.net was born! It has been through several layout changes over the past year. I hope this current layout works for everyone. Please let me know if you have problems navigating it. It is designed for IE6 so if you use an older version or Netscape, you may experience problems. Sorry!

This newest layout also sees an addition to what Just to Be Close to You has been in the past. I have added reviews all off the Backstreet concerts I have attended as well as encounter stories. There are pictures where available. You will not however, see pictures of myself or the friends mentioned in the encounters & reviews. I'm very cautious in who I allow to see what I look like and I show the same respect to my friends. You never know who might come to your page and see your photo prominently displayed! I have also changed the names of my friends to protect them as well. I may sound paranoid but one bad experience taught me to watch what I post! :)
