My Heart Stays With You

Chapter 42

“What’s wrong sweetheart?”

Samantha was still breathing hard. She looked into Howie’s eyes and replied “We can’t get too carried away here OK?”

Howie kissed Samantha. Keeping his lips only millimeters away from hers he whispered “The pilot said he wouldn’t be leaving the cockpit once we got under way. We have like 4 hours here to be alone and do whatever we want to do.”

Samantha smiled, not breaking the close contact. “That isn’t the point here Howie.”

“Come on Sam! We haven’t been together in over 2 weeks!” He kissed her. “I want to be with you Sam.” He looked into her eyes. “I need to be with you Hun.” He pulled her closer to him and kissed her hard.

Samantha pulled back, breaking the kiss. “Howie, I want to be with you too but we can’t…” Her words were interrupted by Howie’s mouth coming down on hers again. She put her hands between the two of them and pushed him away from her. “Howie” she said firmly. “Not here!”

Howie wrinkled his brow. “Samantha what’s going on? Why are you pushing me away?”

“Howie this is my brother’s plane! We can’t make love on his plane!”

Howie laughed softly. “Is that all you are worried about?” He grinned at Samantha, who was turning a bright shade of pink. He reached out and cupped her chin in his hand. “Sam, he will never know!” He kissed the bridge of her nose.

“Howard!” Samantha cried out, her eyes growing huge. Howie sat back away from Samantha. He stared at the wall opposite the two of them. ‘I see her point’ he thought furrowing his brow again. ‘But I don’t want to wait until late tonight to be with her.’ He licked his lips. “Samantha” he sighed, “I understand what you are saying. You respect your brother and you think using his plane to join ‘the Mile High Club’ is disrespectful.” He looked at Samantha who raised her eyebrows and nodded to him. “Sam, I’m telling you Peter will NEVER know!” He placed his lips close to hers. “Trust me Hun.” He kissed her softly.

Samantha sighed. “Peter knowing isn’t the issue either Howie.” She closed her eyes and laughed lightly. “Peter would probably applaud my ‘stepping outside of the box’. He thinks I am too rigid anyway.” She rolled her eyes. She took Howie’s hands in hers and gave them a squeeze. “The thing is, I will know. Every time I fly in this plane, with or without you or Peter, I will know what we did.”

“And this is a bad thing?” Howie grinned from ear to ear as he cupped Samantha’s chin and raised her eyes to meet his. “Sam, we love each other right?” Samantha nodded. “Then what is wrong with expressing that love?” Samantha shifted her gaze to her hands, breaking eye contact with Howie. Howie reached over, pulled Samantha to her feet and down onto his lap. He stroked her hair. A thought suddenly entered his mind. “Sam” he whispered. He gently guided Samantha’s chin around so her eyes once again met his. “Would Peter not approve of us having sex without being married? Is that what is bothering you?”

Samantha shook her head. “Jill was 3 months pregnant with Adam when she and Peter got married. They were engaged anyway but still, pre-marital sex isn’t a factor in this situation either.” She put her arms around Howie’s neck and rested her head on his shoulder. “Howie, the thing is, my parents were busy during my adolescence. Peter and Christopher became sort of surrogate fathers to me. I just…”

Howie hugged Samantha tightly. “I think I am beginning to get the picture Sam.” He kissed her cheek. “You feel like if we were to have sex on Peter’s plane, it would be like doing it in your parents’ house when they aren’t home right? You’re afraid of getting caught later.”

Samantha nodded and looked at her hands. “Exactly. I realize it sounds weird, and it probably doesn’t make any sense to you, but it is the way I feel.” She brought her lips even with Howie’s and kissed him tenderly. “By the way.” She kissed him again. “I’ve already made reservations at a hotel for us this weekend.” She pressed her lips tightly to Howie’s suppressing the giggle her statement elicited from him.

Howie ceased kissing Sam and looked at her from the corner of his eye. A sly smile crept on to his face. “You know Sam…” The ringing of the phone interrupted his sentence.
