My Heart Stays With You

Chapter 58

'Good lordy!' Howie thought as the park came into view. 'Are all of those kids related to Samantha?' He noticed Kait pushing Steven on the swings. He saw Adam, Kyle and Jenna playing soccer with 3 or 4 other kids of various ages. Off to the side a group of 4 girls were practicing various tumbling moves. There were kids on a jungle gym, a teeter-totter and sliding down a twisted slide. The laughter he heard put a smile back on his face. He looked over at Sam and noticed a huge smile on her face as well. Her eyes were sparkling. 'It is about time! I really missed that smile.'

"Sam!" One of the tumblers cried out. She started running towards Samantha and Howie followed the 3 other girls in her group.

Samantha stopped and braced herself for the impact. "Hi Ashleigh! That was a great Arabian I just saw you do!"

"Thanks Sam!" She exclaimed hugging her aunt. "I have been working so hard on my tumbling lately. Wait until you see my double twist! Jason says I should be ready for my Elite test next month!"

"Oh Ash that is fantastic!" Sam replied hugging her. "Be sure to tape it for me OK?" The girl nodded. Samantha held her hand out to Howie who took it and joined her by her side. "Howie, this Natalie, Tiffany, Ashleigh and Malia. Girls, meet Howie." Samantha could hardly contain her laughter as each wide eyed girl shook Howie's hand.

The smallest girl took Samantha's hand and started pulling her into the area where they had been tumbling. "Come on Sam! Spot me on a back layout! I could really use your help!"

"In a few minutes Malia. I want to introduce Howie to everyone first OK?"

"OK. I'll be waiting."

Samantha took Howie's hand and guided him over to the mini soccer match. "You've met Adam, Jenna and Kyle. The other kids are Aimee, Micah, Nichole, Nick & Mark"

Howie did a double take. "I can see this is going to be fun weekend." He turned to Samantha "How do you tell Aimee from Ashleigh or Natalie from Nichole and Natasha?"

Samantha laughed. "Or Bradley from Bryant for that matter!" Howie rolled his eyes at her and made a face. Sam smiled "It isn't has hard as it seems. Aimee is sort of a tomboy. She will play any sport, anytime. Soccer is her passion though. Ashleigh is more feminine. She loves ballet and you can tell she really excels at gymnastics. Her nails are always polished and she hates for her hair to be out of place."

"Those 2 sound pretty easy to tell apart then. How about the others?"

"Bradley and Bryant are mirror image twins."

"Oh so they aren't identical?"

Samantha shook her head. "They look exactly alike but they do everything opposite of each other. If you put them facing each other and ask them to do the same task, it will look like one is mirroring the other. Brad is left handed, Bryant is right handed."

"Another easy one. Are the triplets that easy?"

"Umm…no." Samantha replied. "I have to watch them for a few minutes if I haven't seen them for a month or so." She turned so they could see the playground equipment. "That is Natasha practicing her beam routine." She pointed to a girl doing pirouettes on a low beam made of wood. "The easiest way to tell the girls apart is to listen to they way they speak. Natalie has a very slight lisp. Nichole has an incredibly annoying habit that Christopher and Cindy are trying to break her of. She seems to be able to work the word "like" into any sentence and she is never quiet for more than 10 minutes. Natasha is the quiet one. She is very introspective. You never know what she is thinking; you just know she is carefully considering something. Does that make sense?"

Howie leaned down and kissed her. "Sounds a lot like you in that respect!"

"GROSS!" Came interruption not far from where they were standing.
