Chapter 66
"What happened next Howie?" Jill inquired somewhat intrigued by the fact Samantha had let Howie join her in the first place.
"Samantha introduced me to a few of her friends who work in the restaurant…"
"Let me guess!" Christopher interjected. "You met the illustrious Noel?"
Howie laughed. "Oh yeah. I met Noel!" He rolled his eyes and laughed.
"Noel thought Howie was as attractive as I did that night! It was quite comical."
"And very confusing. I thought he was Samantha's boyfriend at first. Then she told me what he had said to her." He laughed again and shook his head. "Definitely not my type!" Howie stated. "He was a nice guy though and he did recommend a great place to go dancing."
"Isn't Samantha a great dancer Howie?" Cindy asked. "You certainly chose the correct activity for your first date!"
"Samantha is an incredible dancer. I hear she is quite the ballerina as well." He looked at Samantha who had her head down, hiding the blush spreading across her face. "I hope to see her dance soon." Samantha lifted her eyes and smiled at him. "So to make a long story short, my group and I spent the weekend hiding out at Samantha's house. We had a fantastic time swimming and eating, using her music room and eating, enjoying the beach and eating…" Everyone laughed.
Christopher shook his head. "I still cannot believe Samantha invited you guys to spend the weekend with her! You must have made some impression on my little sister Howie! I doubt she has had as many people to her house in the entire time she has lived there as she had in one weekend!"
"Samantha was a great hostess." Howie remarked.
"Great hostess perhaps but very unintelligent young woman." Samantha's dad commented. "She didn't know anything about you. She was lucky you didn't turn out to be a serial killer or gang of rapists!"
Samantha looked down at her plate as she pushed her food around with her fork. She couldn't look up for fear of someone seeing the tears stinging her eyes. The last thing she wanted to do was to let her father see he was upsetting her. 'I don't need to add fuel to the fire' she thought silently.
Howie came to her rescue. "My bandmate Kevin said basically the same thing about Samantha. He found it very difficult to believe she had no idea who we were. Luckily, Samantha is very popular in Carmel. The hotel owner was able to put all of Kevin's fears to rest with his praise of her."
"Calen is a good guy." Samantha affirmed.
"Anyone ready for desert?" Jill asked hoping to redirect the subject as she started to clear the table.
